So far Alyse's first Halloween hasn't been so fun.

Yesterday afternoon, I noticed that she felt kinda warm. I took her temperature and it was 100.2 deg. I didn't really worry because she had been wearing her strawberry costume (pictures to come later) that is kinda warm. She had also been playing at playgroup and then had fallen asleep in the car. I thought because of all that, and the fact that she is teething, it was no big deal that she just had a small temperature.

A little later in the day (about 4pm) I checked her temp again. It had gone up to about 100.8. I gave her some Tylenol and didn't really worry about it. She had a little bit of a runny nose, and was a little fussy, but I just thought she was tired.

Well, at about 8pm she started to cough and have a really runny nose. I gave her a bath with some vapor wash and Josh pulled out a Vicks plug in. I gave her a bottle, but she spit it all back up. Eventually, she went to sleep and seemed to be fine except for a stuffed up nose.

At 12:00 she woke up screaming. I went in to check on her and she was sitting in the middle of her bed screaming like I have never heard her scream before. When I picked her up, she felt like she was on fire. I checked her temp and it was 103.6 degrees! I started to panic a little. After giving her some more Tylenol and calming her down, I called my mom. A little while later, I called her doctor's office. (They have a 24 hour nurse on call.) They told me that I should give her a sponge bath, continue to give her Tylenol, and wait to see how she was after 24 hours. They told me if her temp got to 105, I needed to call them back and possibly take her to the ER.
So, last night she slept between Josh and I. At about 1:30 she feel asleep. She was a little restless and coughed a lot, but she slept pretty good. So did Josh. I did not!

This morning her temp was back down to 101.1. So, I guess she is doing better. She is sleeping a lot. She really just wants to be held. I am trying to get her to eat. I even made her chicken soup. She ate a little, but is so tired.

I called the doctor's office again. They said that it sounds like I am doing everything that I can do and they believe it is just a cold virus. They told me that since her temperature is going down, just to let her little body relax. I am suppose to call back and bring her in if her temp goes back up.

So, I guess that we will be sitting around here this Halloween. I might put her in her costume just to take a picture. But for now, here is her "Sick" costume:

* NOTE TO OTHER PLAY GROUP MOMS: I feel really bad about taking her to play group yesterday! I hope that none of your babies get sick! I am so sorry! I did not know that she was sick.

Poor thing!!! I hope she is feeling better soon. I'm sure the other playgroup moms will understand. Everyone does that at some point. It's not like you did it on purpose. Anyways, get better soon Alyse!!! Happy Halloween!
