The menu is planned. The groceries are bought. I am going to start baking and preparing tomorrow. My parents are also going to be here tomorrow with the turkey and the few things that my mom was put in charge of making. Everything is coming together and I am excited about our Thanksgiving Day.

Here is the plan:

Who - My parents, my sister, Alyse, Josh, and I
Where - At our house
When - We will be eating an early lunch (around 11:30am) because Josh has to go to work.
What - Lots of yummy food!

  • Turkey - my parents are in charge of that. Don't judge us, but I think that we are actually going to be buying one from Bojangles. We had to do a last minute add on of a turkey last year and someone told us to try theirs. I was kind of apprehensive about it, but it turned out to be a VERY YUMMY turkey. Lots of flavor. It comes all seasoned, you just have to put it in the oven. Nice and easy.
  • Mashed potatoes - Probably made by my mom. She is better at the mashing part.
  • Broccoli Cheese Casserole - By me. It is one of my favorites!
  • Corn Pudding - Again, ME! This is my specialty and a family favorite.
  • Stuffing - Stove Top, nothing fancy. We aren't big stuffing people.
  • Green Bean Casserole - Someone will make it. It is another of those things you have to have.
  • Yeast Rolls - I made sure that I have enough for everyone to have at least 5. Don't want there to be any fights over these yummy little things.
  • Frozen Cranberry Salad - This is a little family tradition. Not sure of the history of it, but we have it every Thanksgiving. (See below for the recipe.)
  • For dessert - Pumpkin Roll (made by my mom) and Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie (made by me).

So there you have our traditional Thanksgiving meal. I am sure that there will be enough food for the 6 of us! We should all be very full and have lots of leftovers. I am looking forward to it!

1 Tablespoon of Mayo

1 Tablespoon of Sugar

1 Pkg of Dream Whip (made up)

1 can of Cranberries (Whole Berries)

1 small can of Crushed Pineapple (drained)

2 Cups of chopped pecans (leave a few to sprinkle on the top)

After all ingredients are mixed together, pour into a 9x13 pan

Put in freezer until frozen

To serve - pull out of freezer and let soften a little before serving.

Let me know if you try it. It is very yummy!

Good news! Indian Trail, Monroe (3 stores) and 5 other Bojangels are out of turkeys - but tonight - Success! The turkey is secured and we will have it with us when we arrive in the afternoon. We will call before we arrive. Hey - The cranberry salad is from my child hood. Looking forward to a great time. Thanks for all your doing! DAD
