The days lately have been going by so fast.

It feels like that because:

  • Next week is Thanksgiving! Crazy. I feel like I was just hanging out at the beach.

  • It is cold outside and all the pretty leaves have fallen to the ground. (I have to say that if the temperature is falling, I would like some snowflakes to fall too.)

  • I haven't posted a blog in 3 days! (Sorry, friends.... all 10 of you.)

But the main evidence that the days are flying by is by looking at Alyse. Over the last month or so, I have found myself being really sad because I see how big she is getting.

It started when I started to look for "seasonal"outfits for her to wear. When I went to go find some cute shirts with pumpkins and then Christmas themes, I found that most things say, "Baby's 1st Thanksgiving", "Baby's 1st Christmas", etc... All of Alyse's first holidays are over. And I don't think they have anything that says "Toddler's 2nd Christmas" on it.

She is also starting to show me everyday how big she is getting.

  • She is talking like crazy.

  • She can now tell me exactly what she wants. (Juice, nap, diaper, show, play, ....)

  • She is starting to play "pretend" more and more with objects around the house.

  • She has moved from a highchair and into a booster seat at our table.

  • She is telling me she wants to go and (try) to use the potty.

  • She is helping to pick out what she wants to wear. (On Sunday night she kept saying, "Tutu, tutu." I held up her tutu and asked if that is what she wanted to wear and she grabbed it and said, "Yes! Tutu" and then tried to put it on.)

  • She started to count the other day. ("un, Twoooo, Tee")

  • Also on Sunday, she just walked herself right into her classroom. She picked up her little bag, put it on her arm, and as soon as the gate was open, she was off. She waved goodbye and could have cared less that I was leaving. (Ask Colleen and Lisa. They witnessed it.)
In some ways I am so proud of her that she is growing up. I love to play with her and have little conversations with her, but on the other hand I WANT MY BABY BACK!
I swear, next week she will be headed to college.

Time does go quickly, and trust me, it only gets quicker as they get older. How did MY babies get to be 5 and 2? It's hard some days to live for the day and treasure all the little moments, but it's a must, they'll only be this age once, right?
