Josh will be home late tonight. He is going Uptown for a memorial service. One year ago tonight is when Officers Sean Clark and Jeff Shelton were shot and killed at the Timber Ridge Apartments.

I really can't believe that was one year ago.

(Please read more about that night and the funeral services here.)

As I sit here, the emotions of the night come back to me and I can't help but cry. I will cry for Sherry, Jennifer, and the rest of the Clark and Shelton families. I will cry for all the fellow officers of David 3 and the whole CMPD. I will cry for the wives, husbands, children, and family members of the men and women who go to work wearing a uniform everyday. But mostly I will cry out THANK YOU, LORD for keeping my husband safe. Please continue to watch over him as he goes to work each day. Please bring him home to me safe and sound every night.

(I do feel somewhat selfish praying this, but I can't help but ask for it.)
