Right now I am sitting at my computer listening to the fireworks outside. I have never been a huge firework person. My mom says even when I was little I didn't like them. I like sparklers, and I don't mind big, professional shows, but I don't like the do-it-yourself kind. 1st of all, it can be dangerous, 2nd- I don't really like to bother everyone around me with loud noises, and 3rd - it is against the law in NC. (I don't think people really care about that though.)

Anyway, Josh had to work today. He has had to work every 4th of July since we moved here, but he doesn't mind. Before he went today, we took this picture.

(Notice our matching Old Navy shirts that my Dad bought for us)

The first time Josh made a news appearance was Uptown 2 years ago on the 4th. There was a big riot. They were throwing fireworks under cars and at each other. They also were fighting and everything got way out of control. I was suppose to go meet him after he got off, but he called me and demanded that I go home. When I got home, I turned on the TV and there is Josh, on live TV, tackling some guy. I was kind of surprised to see "police officer" Josh in action. (They played the same clip on the news just a few days ago. ) Hopefully this 4th of July will not have so much excitement, and he will be able to come home on time.

The big excitement of the day was that Alyse took one of her first steps towards her own independence. She sat up for the first time all by herself!!!! We were so proud (and a little sad). She is getting so big. Before you know it, she will be up running around and talking.

I hope that you all had a great holiday!

I hope that you had a good time with family and friends.

I hope that you took the time to realize

what an important day today really is, and

I hope you remember how blessed we are to live here in the USA.

GOD BLESS AMERICA,

MY HOME, SWEET HOME
