I read in one of my parenting magazines once that so many mommies do things that they are embarrassed about and keep a secret. I have thought back on some of the things that I have done that aren't "model" parenting. I thought that it might be interesting to share some with ya'll and see if I am the only non-perfect mom. Here is my first confession:

I make my child sleep in the garage!
If you come home with me on Sunday afternoons, you will find my child asleep in the garage. On Sundays, Alyse does not sleep when she is in the nursery. So, most Sundays, she falls asleep in the car on our way home. When we get home, I usually close the garage door, then roll down all the windows in the car and go inside, leaving the door to the house open. I leave her bucked in her seat belt and let her sleep until either her daddy comes home to get her, or she wakes up.

Why do I do this? Well, we really are only home for a few hours in the afternoon before we have small group, so I don't want to waste her nap time. Many times I have tried to either take in her car seat or unbuckle her and take her to her room, but she usually wakes up. I have decided that she gets more rest if I just let her sleep in the garage.

I do admit that I do this occasionally on other days, but usually this is just a Sunday afternoon activity.

Now before you call Child Services on me - please know that she is completely safe!!!!
She is bucked in and the garage is always warm in the winter and cool in the summer because of our heating and air. I also do turn the fan on in the summer and put a blanket on her on cool days. I am also not very far away. (Our house isn't that big!) Plus, I check on her multiple times. The minute she cries or stirs at all, I am out the door and getting her out.

Just look at that little exhausted face!

Thank goodness for garages. I do the same thing when the weather permits! I have a few things I'm not exactly proud of, maybe I'll have to share them on my blog sometime. I'm sure most people with garages though have done this at least once!

I used to do this with Amber because she would wake if I tried to move her- so, you're not alone:-) I miss you and hope you are doing well.

HAHAHAHA I laughed so hard when I first read this, then I had to read it out loud to Sal. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! HAhaha I do this everyday when I get home from work, I used to take him out of the car (car seat and all) and he would always wake up, so I realized why not just shut the garage, open all the car windows, and leave the house door open?!?! It was a life saver! I finally am able to cook dinner, clean a little, or just sit on the couch and relax before he wakes up (he normally will stay asleep in the garage for a good hour) I had to laugh because everytime Sal gets home from work, he comes in the house and says 'I see you're neglecting our son again' (in a jokingly way of course) and now I had proof to him that I'm not the online ingenious mom who does this! =)
