Alyse has had some more "first" this week, but this time, I'm not very proud. For over 6 months, my child has lived safe and secure without much tears or dramas. Well, this week, all that has come crashing (literal) to an end. She has fallen or hurt herself 4 times over the last 4 days.

Crash #1 - Sunday, Sept. 23rd around 3:00 pm

On Sunday afternoon, Josh and I had about a 2 hour break before we had to run out the door again. We ate a quick lunch and then Josh decided that he wanted to relax, watch football, and maybe sneak in a short nap. He went to put Alyse in her swing hoping that she too would take a quick nap. As he put her in, I said,"Make sure you buckle her. She has been flipping herself around a lot." He said, "I did, and I tightened the straps." All was good for about 2 minutes. I had just closed my eyes when I heard a THUMP and then my child started to scream. Josh and I both jumped up, and there she was, on the floor! Josh scooped her up and checked her all out. She was fine, but continued to cry and cry. I took her to hold her. Josh walked over to the swing to turn it off and reported that the seat belt was still buckled. I have no clue how she squirmed her way out!

Crash #2 - Monday, Sept 24th around 8:00 am

Alyse is starving when she wakes up. I can not get the food in her fast enough. This is really the only time that I know she will be hungry. The rest of the day, I struggle to get her to finish a bottle. Anyway, she just started to eat those little puffs. So as I was making her bottle, cereal, and getting her bananas, I gave her about 4 of those to appease her. (Now, this was only the 2nd time that she had tired these so she really just played with them. She isn't great at getting it into her mouth by herself yet.) She picked one up, but she dropped it onto her lap. She bent over to pick it up, and slammed her face into the high chair tray. She started to cry and then hit the back of her head on the back of the high chair. It was very dramatic!

Crash #3- Tuesday, Sept 25th around 8:30 am

One of the hardest things that I have had with becoming a mother is getting myself ready for the day. It still, 6 months later, is difficult for me. I've been lucky that Josh or my mom have been around most of the time to take Alyse while I do what I have to do. When I am alone, I try to get up early so that I can shower and do my hair and make-up before Alyse wakes up. Well, Tuesday I was on my own, but my child chose to wake up about 1/2 hour earlier than normal, so I had not got in the shower yet. After breakfast, I had to hurry because we had play group, and I had to run to the store first. I gathered some toys and put her in her little chair on the floor in the bathroom. At first, things were fine. She was playing, laughing, and talking away. Then Bo walked by. As he walked by, she reached for him and grabbed his hair. He kept walking, and she kept holding on. This lead to her and her chair toppling over. I had to jump out of the shower and get her all untangled and calmed down. I guess I'm going to have to try something different next time.

Crash #4 - Wednesday, Sept. 26th about 12:30 pm.

Again I was on my own. I had put Alyse in the middle of my bed with some toys while I went into the bathroom. She was watching the TV, playing with her toys, and having a great time. I remember thinking I really shouldn't leave her here, but Bo was laying on the edge of the bed. So, I thought, she can't fall, Bo is blocking the way. Plus she isn't crawling. There is no way she is going to fall. Well, I was wrong. A few minutes later, I looked over just in time to watch my child do a flip over Bo's back and land face first onto the floor. Again she started crying. I too started to cry this time. I ran to her and grabbed her off the floor. I then started to laugh. (Which sound horrible, but keep reading.) When she fell, she landed on Josh's Bible which was on the floor by his bedside table. When I picked her up, she held onto the Bible and wouldn't let go. So there she was, crying her eyes out, clinging to God's Word with all of her might. The whole time that I was checking her out and comforting her, she held onto that Bible. I'm wondering if she was praying in her head, "Dear Lord, please help my mommy not let me hurt myself anymore!"

That's what I am praying too!

Luckily Megan hasn't fallen yet but i'm sure it's coming. As for the shower by yourself thing. I put Megan in her MegaSaucer. It keeps her entertained and safe.If you don't have one your should get one they are lifesavers!! I can do dishes, go to the potty, etcc. and not worry. The last fall sounds kinda funny the Bible part anyway. I freak about putting Megan on our bed even if I'm on the bed. I'm weird what can I say. And don't think your a bad mom!!!! Your a great Mom! Your doing a great job. Alyse is going to be a GREAT woman when she grows up.

    Kim
