Do you think an almost 17 month old is ready to start potty training?
Yesterday, a little after lunch, Alyse brought me a diaper and then laid down in front of me on the ground. I thought that it was funny, but just figured that she was playing. I remember telling her, "Your such a big girl. Are you going to tell me when you have to go potty now?" Then I laughed when she nodded her head yes.
Well, today, she has brought me a diaper 3x and laid down right in front of me again. I asked her if she wanted to use the big potty and she walked from our family room, to my bedroom, and then walked into my bathroom. I put her on the toilet for a few minutes, but she just smiled at me.
Interesting ......
I may have my hopes up, but I am thinking that I am going to try to encourage this. I think I may be going to Babies R Us tomorrow to buy a little potty just for her.
Matthew (who just turned 2 a couple weeks ago) actually used the "big potty" last week. Just out of the blue he said "got pee" and so I put him on a stool and let him stand in front of the toilet. I was shocked that he actually went, and even more shocked it actually made it into the toilet!!! I have no intention of having him out of diapers within even 6 months or so, but if he wants to start working on it, that's just fine with me!
Good luck!
