It feels really good to be home. Mom, Dad, Alyse, and I arrived home last night after a very long car ride. It took almost 4.5 hours! (It is only suppose to be 3 hours.) I did enjoy switching back and forth on the radio between the music of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. We heard abunch of fun songs that I haven't heard in awhile. It was also humorous to hear the difference in my generation's music and my parent's generation's music. (Dad, I am still upset that I had to miss "You Went And Saved The Best For Last" because of your "Celebrate" song!) I also decided that I need to get myself a GPS. Maybe I wouldn't have so many driving issues.
Josh had the place looking very nice. I have a major issue with coming home to a dirty house. It must be clean when I walk in the door. Who wants to come home to a house that needs cleaned up?
After I gave Alyse a bath and put her to bed, I crawled into my own bed to cuddle with the boys and to wait for Josh to come home. I really missed him!
This morning, I wasn't feeling very well. I guess all the rain and the change in temperature made me a little sick. (Nothing serious, just a sore throat, headache, etc.) I got a little extra sleep because Alyse slept in until 9am. I guess she was tired and was happy to be back in her own bed. Then Josh decided to stay home with us for the day. He got to spend some time with Alyse and I got to stay in bed!
The big news for the day was that our house is now OUR house again. Mom and Dad packed up all their things and are headed back to Raleigh with everything today. So, it is officially just the 3 of us. Well, until they come back next week for Danielle and my birthday.
I started to think about some of the pros and cons of my parents not living here anymore. Here is what I came up with.
Pros
- We can be a happy little family of 3
- I am hoping that eating out less will help with my diet
- Josh can walk around in his boxers (He is very excited about that.)
- There is less "stuff" sitting around.
- I can use my computer whenever I want to.
- My pantry and fridge will be organized again
- I now have a vacation home. (Lots of people use my house as their get away house. Now I have one to go to.)
Cons
- My mom won't be here to clean my house.
- I can't have any sleep in days.
- My parents are 3 hours away instead of 3 seconds
- I don't have a live-in nanny anymore!
- It is kinda lonely when Josh is at work and I am home by myself
- Getting showered and ready for the day is more difficult
- I have to pay for myself when I go out to eat.
I guess I will miss my parents. Of couse I don't think they will be gone for very long. We already have plans for them to be back her next week, and Alyse is going to their house for the next weekend. So, I'm not worried about that cons list.

October 29, 2007 at 10:45 PMI can't imagine living with MY parents! I love them dearly, but I've had 18+ years of that, and it was enough! I am lucky that I get to see them every weekend, but wouldn't be able to stand seeing them EVERY day! But the built in babysitters would be GREAT!!! Take care!
