Usually my sister is the Uptown Girl, (that is actually her ring tone on my phone) but yesterday, I feel like I took that title from her. I went Uptown twice yesterday, and for me, that is a big deal. You see, first, I don't love to drive. I am a good driver, but I would much rather ride. For me to pack up the baby and drive up 74 to the crazy one-way streets and construction, is not my favorite thing in the world. I did it though, and have to say that I did fine.
The first reason I went up there was to have lunch with Josh. Josh works overtime doing security at Bank of America every Thursday and Friday morning. He gets done at noon, so I have been trying to go and see him. Alyse and I met up with him and then headed to the Pita Pit. Let me just say that the floor plan was not quite designed for a stroller. We also hardly said a word to each other because it was so loud in there. After lunch, and a quick visit with Danielle, we headed back to the car for a trip to the hospital.
We went to see our friends Brad and Tammy who just had a little boy. His name is Andrew and he is cute as can be. Alyse was happy to see Brad. She loves him. Brad has decided that it is not him that she likes, it is his Chicago Cubbies hat that he wears. He thinks he has created a little Cubs fan. (Her Uncle Jonathan and my friend Erica will be so proud!)

We also stopped by to see Jennifer and her new little baby Aubrey. (We are having a baby boom in our small group! You are next Tonia!)

Ok, back to the Uptown adventures.....
After the hospital, I went and dropped Josh off at the Gateway Village so he could get his car and go to work. I managed to get back onto 74 where I sat in traffic for an hour. So exciting!
A few hours later, I headed back Uptown again. Thankfully, this time, my friend Joy let me tag along with her. She picked me up and dropped me and her kids off at the Blumenthal. I met up with my sister, we had dinner with her friend, and then we headed to our show. We went to the High School Musical 2 premier. (Don't laugh! I had to show family support. #1 Danielle loves it! #2 One of the stars is Vanessa Hudgens. What is my maiden name? HUDGENS We have to be related somehow.)
It was fun. The movie was good. (Well there was that one "Bet On It" song that I thought was quite cheesy, but that's ok. Poor Zac Efron! He really is a cutie!!!) I do have to say that the funniest part was that those little girls really took their movie seriously! They also were not a big fan of Danielle. (She kept laughing and making comments about stuff.) We had not even got through the first song when Danielle had ticked off the little girl in front of her. She kept shushing Danielle and giving her dirty looks. It was hysterical.
After the movie, Danielle and I headed to the bathroom. There was this huge line, but it was not for the ladies room, it was for the men's room. Apparently, in the other theater, there was some show that is well, "homosexual oriented" is what Danielle said. I was ok with that until there were more drag queens in the ladies room than actual God-made females. Interesting.....
Anyway, I am back to my normal, boring life today. Alyse and I are just going to stay home and relax. Mom and Dad left for the next week, so it's just us. Papa did try to pack her in his suitcase, but I saved her!

August 21, 2007 at 9:58 AMI felt the same way about the "Bet On It" song! I've actually tried to fast forward through it when the kids watch it on DVR but they won't let me...otherwise I thought it was fun too!
